While Southern Baptists continue to debate the merits of a Great Commission Resurgence, we are witnessing the fall of the once great North Eastern states of America. New Hampshire became the fifth state in New England yesterday and the sixth in the country to allow same-sex "marriage". Gay marriage is now legal in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Massachusetts (all of the new England states, except for Rhode Island). Gay marriage is also legal in Iowa. New Hampshire Governor John Lynch signed the bill into law after the Legislature approved religious exemptions. The law will go into effect on January 1, 2010.
This one hits home as my wife's mother and step-father live in New Hampshire. I realize that sinners will always rebel against God, but what really bothers me is that some Southern Baptists will rejoice in this decision. They will do so with a claim of love for their gay neighbors. However, condoning and enabling sexual perversion and sin is not love, it is hate. The command of Christ is "go and sin no more". The command of God to the prophet is "cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins."
May God break our hearts to the condition of our nation! May God truly grant us a Great Commission Resurgence before it is too late!

Amen! Speak the truth in love!
Jam 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Jam 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
My husband was born in Maine, raised in New England. This tears at our hearts. He was called out of an SB church in Connecticut to follow God in fulltime ministry. The idea that New England is leading the charge with this agenda is so very sad. May God have mercy on us all as the circle seems to be closing in all across the country. We are coming to the place in history and culture that says there is no sin any longer.
As bad as it is,though. I am not surprised. selahV
I think God already had mercy on us and He's opening eyes and hearts. I truly believe we are moving forward and we're coming into a brilliant time. Oh, sure. We'll have some holdouts, like you folks.
Now, I'm sure you're all very nice, but let's face it. There were probably nice slave owners, nice people who burned witches, nice people who thought women were beneath men and nice people who fought against civil rghts for African Americans.
And, let's face it, if it's one thing we've all heard it's that we should love the sinner and hate the sin. So, please don't doubt that we love you despite your sins of hatred and religious tyranny.
And if you get your feelings hurt or you start to freak out because not everyone is happy to keep oppressing people, you can say mean things to us. You can condemn us to hell, you can get your signs and protest equality and acceptance. You can even kill us like so many good and faithful Christians have done in the past.
It has to be upsetting to be so wrong and we know your faith is fragile and can't possibly survive an attempt to love and accept your fellow Americans. We get it. A lot of us are Christians too.
In many ways, your attitudes have caused us to have a much more enlightening experience with God. You've told us over and over that we're an abomination to him, that he will damn us to hell because of a few badly translated words in a 2000 year old book.
You've tried everything to change us and deny us the right to approach Him just as we are and, as a result, He's had to pull on some of us much harder. But we're coming. We're finally able to understand that He made us and He loves us. And we're telling others and they're coming with us. We've also had a lot of help from the true Christians . . . the heterosexuals who are standing up and welcoming us.
Actually, I kinda pity you folks. You're so locked into this hateful dogma that it's probably gonna be very uncomfortable for you when you make it to heaven one day and see that a lot of us are there too.
Thanks Glenda and SelahV for the comments.
Diego,
Thank you as well for the read and comments. I want you to know that I am praying for you, that I love you, and that most importantly Christ died to save sinners. God is not going to damn you to hell "because of a few badly translated words in a 2000 year old book." God is going to damn your soul to Hell for a failure to repent of your sin and turn to Jesus.
I encourage to search deeper into that "old book" and for the God who authored it. My prayer for you is that one day Christ will deliver you from your bondage and that you will join the thousands of "former" homosexuals in the world today. Then I will see you in heaven one day.
